PLEASE SEE THE TABLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE FOR ADJUSTMENTS TO DATES, LOCATIONS OR TIMES, AS A RESULT OF OTHER SCHEDULED EVENTS.
The program is coordinated by the Sydney International Regatta Centre and supervised on the day by Department of Primary Industry "Fishcare Volunteers".
The program focuses on educating people about responsible catch and release practices whilst also promoting and increasing awareness of the Penrith Lakes as a major recreational fresh water fishing venue in Western Sydney .
Native fish communities in the Penrith Lakes play a key role in the succession of ecosystems in the developing lake environments, as well as providing recreational fishing opportunities. Therefore, management of fish communities in the lakes has been recognised as an important component of the adaptive management plan for the Penrith Lakes system. Australian Bass have been stocked in the lakes as part of this adaptive management plan.
There are currently 9 species of freshwater fish including Australian bass, freshwater catfish, long finned eel and carp.
The venue provides opportunities for organised Fishing Competitions and Clinics throughout the year. Please contact Venue Management on 4730 0000 if you are wishing to use the venue for any competition. |
