Lakes
COMPETITION LAKE:
SIRC is ranked as one of the top five rowing and sprint canoe/kayak courses in the world.
The competition course is 2300 metres in length with a consistent five-metre depth, rock-coated wave-absorbing banks and picturesque surrounding native trees designed to limit the effect of cross-winds and ensure fair competition.
The course accommodates nine (13.5-metre wide) lanes for rowing or nine (9-metre wide) lanes for canoe/kayak.
Water quality is controlled by a series of specifically designed detention basins that recieve water run-off from the local area.

WARM UP LAKE:
A unique feature of the Regatta centre is the 1500 metre Warm-Up Lake, which allows competitors to train while a race is in progress. It also enables competitors to exit the Competition Lake quickly after an event for cool-down, ensuring minimal delays between races.
The introduction of 25,000 native underwater plants and over 70,000 bass fish to the lakes helps maintain the regatta course's ecosystem. The shores of the warm-up lake have areas of wetlands established to provide habitat for water birds.
The Warm-Up Lake is suitable for a range of activities including rowing, canoeing, sailing, sailboarding, canoe polo, catch-and-release fishing competitions and swimming events.
